This club is now called Fillies....

This club is now called Fillies. I decided to check it out to see what else besides the name had changed. I got there around 10:00. The new owners have put some effort into cleaning it up. Formerly, it was a nasty scary pit that looked like it was a ghetto basement decorated with trailer park left-overs. The club The new atmosphere is a bit more comfortable. They are trying to create a slightly more upscale vibe with hardwood flooring, dark red painted walls with white trim, wall sconces, and even a fake fire place. As you enter, the stage is front and center, the bar is to the left of the stage. The DJ station is to the right as you enter and to the left there is a raised platform for couch dances and 3 curtained private rooms. This review reads like an article from Architectural Digest because the decor was all there was to look at for a very long time. It seems it is harder to find decent entertainers than it is to re-decorate. There were 2 dancers working - and I use the term "working" loosely. One was sitting at the bar, the other with a regular. After about 30 minutes, the DJ convinced them to the stage. The first girl up was an older, cougarish woman who sleepwalked around the pole for a few minutes before returning to her regular. The second dancer was a younger brunette who gave a more energetic dance, but disappeared into the dressing room as soon as she was done. As far as looks the women were OK - not fat, old, and saggy, but hardly young, firm, and beautiful either. While I was there, 2 more dancers arrived for their shift, younger, black, petite, and curvy. They took a long time getting ready so I didn't see them on stage. I'd like to give more information about lap dance prices, mileage, etc. but I gave up and left after 10 more minutes of inspecting the renovations. I spoke to the bouncer on the way out. He said that they were usually much busier at this time of night. He seemed annoyed and frustrated that more dancers hadn't shown up. At least it wasn't an expensive night. No cover, $3 dollar drink, $2 in stage tips - probably my cheapest club visit of all time.
