I had a very unusual evening...

I had a very unusual evening at Kappa Kabanna tonight. This afternoon, snow started falling, and through the evening the snow continued with a strong wind making drifts. As I arrived, I couldn't see the driveway. Fortunately, I made it into the parking lot safely. Entering the club, I see I'm the only customer. At the bar sat Shelby, a tall, redhaired dancer, and Ally, the bartender, sharing a pizza. Nobody was on stage. No DJ. A pre-mixed collection of music is playing. It's 6:15 and only one dancer in the club.

As I sat with Shelby, she told me there was one other customer around the 4 PM opening, who came for another dancer. That dancer called to say she wasn't coming in. Shelby sold him a dance. During the 90 minutes or so I was there, the phone rang about 10 times. Each time was another dancer calling off. While at the bar, Shelby started musing that the recently-arrived DJ looks like he'll take quite some time before he's ready to call her to the stage. So why don't we use the time for some lap dances? Well, I couldn't refute that argument, so off we went. She gave me some of the absolutely best dances I've ever had in that club. Afterwards, I sat on the main floor, finally joined by about 6 other customers. I sat at the tip rail for Shelby's stage show. After a song with me, she went to see the other guys. She left the stage after another song, and then there was no dancer at all. Nobody to stare at, no "wannadance?", none of the usual joy of the club. As strange as it was, I had a good time.
