Did anything interesting happen on this...
Did anything interesting happen on this sojourn? Well, a few blocks north of the club someone was shot in front of a liquor store. Neighborhood folk gathered round about 4 rows deep to watch the victim being loaded into an ambulance. Memphis police kept arriving sirens ablare for 5 minutes. Good thing Christie's Cabaret is surrounded by a 7-foot tall cinderblock wall. Yes, one parks in a compound here.
The club is two stories and upscale. Cover is $6 but if you get there before 7pm beer is 2-for-1 ($5.25). No charge for parking or for entrance to the dance area. Smoking is allowed. [After one visit my clothes smelled so strongly of cigarettes and perfume, well, it was more stench than any other club I've ever been to.]
First floor consists of a centered main stage elevated 3 feet off the ground with a 15-foot stripper pole towards the front. There is also a satellite stage located near the entrance and it's about a 6-foot diameter and one foot off the ground, but isn't manned until peak hours. Also elevated 3-feet is the bar section and VIP seating area section. Both have good views of the main stage albeit from opposite sides. Furniture on the main floor and bar area are cocktail tables surrounded by cloth-covered captain's chairs. VIP seating area has padded leather chairs and padded leather sofas, but requires a $200 annual membership to frequent.
