in its previous incarnation, as Ray's, this was an average club....on the plus side, it had friendly dancers ranging from mediocre to pretty good, it had a couple big screen tv's for sport events, a small but servicable private dance area and was the only club in Sussex County. On the negative side, the quality of the dancers seldom reached outstanding, the physical layout of the club was pretty basic and often there weren't that many dancers.

in its new incarnation as X-Rays (the previous owner died and the club was closed for several months), not much has changed in the physical layout; it is even more basic than before, with the exception of the private dance area which has been expanded and redecorated and is actually comfortable, reasonably spacious and nice. The inside is not visible from the bar....but it is just one large area with a few couches or chairs ranged around the walls.

It is now a BYOB and they charge a cover; on a Tuesday night that cover was $10. There were only four dancers on shift seemingly and only about five customers when I came in. The dancers--two blacka and two white-- were all in the "6" range,in terms of look, but were friendly, down-to-earth and fairly motivated to please. One to two would dance topless on stage, periodically coming over to a customer and sitting or laying on top of the bar for some up-close-and-personal entertainment. Their stage sets seemed to be about 20 minutes.

I struck up a conversation with one of the black dancers when she came around after catching my eye on stage. She was easy-going and friendly; pleasant but not beautiful, but with a toned, curvy body. There was no hustle but after about ten minutes of conversation, she asked if I'd like a lapdance; the posted rates were $40 topless for 2 songs, $75 nude for two songs and $125 "VIP", which I learned was for 30 minutes. I went for the topless. We had the private dance room to ourselves. She took off her top and proceeded to give an enjoyable lapdance with decent two-way mileage. If I hadn't been pressed for time I would have sprung for some more with her.

All in all, I wouldn't drive any great distance out of my way to come to X-Ray's but it is a pleasant enough stop when you get the urge and there's nothing else in the area. Might be different earlier in the evening (I came around 10PM) or on weekends. The dancers say it can get busy.
