Serendipity in the guise of a wonky engine on the Twin Otter had me unexpectedly overnighting in Edmonton. What to do? What to do? Chez Pierre beckoned, being within easy walking distance of my hotel. The club's location is in the heart of downtown Edmonton right across the street from one of the city's oldest and most historic churches. Many tacky hotels are nearby (if needed); also numerous drug dealers and a fine massage parlour around the corner on Jasper Ave. (I MAY have had some experience with that particular establishment in the past).

Chez Pierre is a second floor club. No valet - street parking only but that is no problem since the club does not open until 10:00 PM. $10 cover and, much to my dismay, NO BOOZE! There is a 2-drink minimum @ $7.50. You can BYOB but you MUST be secretive about it. $20 lap dances with a $10 or $20 charge for VIP depending on whether you want an open room or a curtained cubicle. The club looks like a worn out basement rec room with a checkerboard stage in the middle. Seating is table and chairs or 1960s style arm chairs with all the lumpy comfort I remember so well. Grade school style cutouts of stars and clouds cover the walls. Of course the bathrooms are only a step up from being unuseable. This place is a chintzy dump.

But there are girls here and the club is all about lap dances. The club's dancers are all independents (no agency girls here like all other Alberta clubs). A guy could quickly establish 'regular' status in this club as was evident during my stay. Unhappily, dancer quality was not stellar on my visit. One hilarious, giggly girl saved the evening for me. I chanced upon her with my first foray to the VIP area. I was stunned with the quality of her dances! This is Alberta, for pity's sakes! What this girl is doing with me and what she is letting me do to her just does NOT happen in this province. And, I didn't have to prompt her with tips.
