A local's mid-level club that, in the end, earned a huge thumbs-up. I arrived in JAX on a business trip pre-planned to visit Sinsations. Though I almost always discount cabbie advice as influenced by club kickback, this time I went with his spiel and let him drop me at Emperor's instead.

The club is well-lighted and I'd describe the club décor not unlike a Hooters with dancers, a stage and a VIP room tacked on to it. A huge square stage in the center of the club. A long bar and a pool table along one end wall. The couch dance room was also brightly lit with one long narrow-U-shaped couch with no dividers or much else to provide privacy. If you pleasure watching other men grope other women, this room will work for you. The place had a local's vibe, with lots of guys standing around and looking more interested in shooting pool and drinking beer than in cashing lap dances. I am more a suit-&-tie guy, so I immediately doubted whether I was going to match well at all.

So I tried cutting to the chase by tipping my buxom waitress $10 to pick out and send over a high-mileage dancer. What I got instead was her best friend dancer who was also stone drunk celebrating her 21st birthday. No doubt the beer-swilling regulars were celebrating her by buying her a load of shots. I bought her a 'birthday' table dance that was little more than her wobbling and trying not to fall down. After several more dancers and table dances, more than an hour had passed and it was beginning to look like I shouldn't have listened to the cabbie.
