I'm going to add a bit of content for non-Portland residents that I think would have helped me when I recently moved here. If you're from Portland, you may skip this paragraph. In this city, strip clubs are not a big deal. Nudity is legal, so anyone who could conceivably open a bar, can open a strip club and indeed many strip clubs are nothing but neighborhood bars that have been converted. There's no licensing as in Atlanta, no mob as in KC and no vice cops like everywhere in America. Nudity is a legal form of free speech, though contact in the form of medium or high-mileage table/lap/private dancing is illegal. So, as a general rule, when you go to a PDX strip club, here's what you can expect. You pay nothing or on a rare ocasion almost nothing to get in. Drink prices are normal bar drink-prices. If you sit at the rail, you need to tip minimum $1/per song. If you sit anywhere else, you will not be pressured by the dancers. There are no shot-girls, doormen expecting tips, or bullshit valet parking fees like there is in Atlanta. However, if you want a little bit more than watching the stage show, you will pay $20 per song (often full-length tho) to spend 1:1 time with a dancer. Expect less than 5-10 MPG. You won't see as many sculpted muscular bodies, but strippers in Portland are healthier (read thinner) than elsewhere and more "natural." By natural, I mean less surgery, but also less, ahem, grooming. I hadn't seen so much bush since high school, and I went to HS in the 70's. You will see tattoos that range from original, to eccentric to over-the-top. As for piercings, think 1998.

Ok, now for this place. Union Jack is the prototypical Portland strip joint I described above with a few exceptions. The girls are prettier (read thinner) and punkier. More tattoos. More conversation. Less hard-sell. More mileage. Music will include radio-alt-rock, but in the past two visits I've heard Velvet Underground, Siouxie and the Banshies, Elvis Costello, Ramones and New York Dolls. Also, best beer selection at a strip club anywhere on earth. True.
