Glamour Girls

I went to Glamour Girls at 23:20 on a Saturday night. There is a small parking lot next to the strip club, but it was full. I parked on a nearby side street. A security guy checked me with a metal detecting wand at the door. There was a $15 cover charge, which is outrageous for a dive in Wichita. The inside is very cramped. There is a small bar on the back wall. The stage is to your immediate left. The private dance area is on the far left beyond the stage. An outdoor smoking patio is to your immediate right through a sliding door that seemed to be jammed halfway open. There is a VIP seating area in the back right corner that has its own pole. There is also a shower show stall in the VIP area. A Sincweiser was $3. At least the beer was cheap here. All music was hip hop and played deafeningly loud; I would guess it was one hundred ten decibels. Dancers play their music off of an AMI jukebox. An emcee will occasionally call out dancers' names. Two-thirds of the clientele was African-American. There were six dancers working. Two were African-American. Two were Caucasian. Two were Hispanic. Only five of the dancers went on stage. The hottest dancer of the half dozen did not do any stage sets. She looked like a clone of the pornstar Kourtney Love. I guess she was so hot that she didn’t need to advertise her body. Dancers would only go on stage for one or two songs at a time. Since this is a bikini club, dancers removed no clothing. Most of the stage show was twerking. A dancer named Jinx sat down with me and ordered a drink. In Wichita, there is a dancer drink scam going on where you have to buy a dancer an overpriced drink if they socialize or sit with you. The waitress tried to get me to pay $25. I told her I didn’t ask the dancer to come and sit with me. I said I will pay for her cocktail, but I am not paying for a dancer to just sit with me. I still ended up paying $10, which must be the lowest dancer drink price. The music was so loud, conversation was nearly impossible anyway. I asked Jinx what private dances cost. She charges $50 for one song, $80 for two songs, and $100 for three songs. Every dancer has her own prices. With the lack of spending going on at Glamour Girls, prices could be negotiated down. Every dancer I asked agreed to do a private dance for $30. The private dance area is a structure made out of black curtains with couches inside. Two way contact was allowed, and it wouldn’t surprise me if more was available on a slower night for an upcharge. The washroom is a tiny corner closet that can only accommodate one pisser at a time, so inevitably a line forms. The club was small, and it was hard to not bump into people. When I left, I pushed the door and ended up knocking a nog in the noggin. My visit to Glamour Girls was nothing special. Volume, cover charge, and dancers’ BMI’s would all need to be lower for me to come back. Glamour Girls is open Tuesday through Sunday from 18:00 to 02:00.

It had been about six months since my last visit to Glamor Girls. I was hoping to find a favorite dancer working, but she's not there anymore. I arrived at 9:30 and was given a perfunctory pat-down outside and paid the $5 cover which goes to $10 at 10:00. I went to the bar and got a $5 bottle of a Jack Daniels fruity drink and found a seat. Seating is a weak point of this place. There are stools at the bar, some high-backed benches near the stage, a bench along a wall and a cocktail table or two. They have two "VIP" seating areas that are designed for more relaxed seating with the dancer of your choice. I didn't see either one in use over the hours I was there. One that is near the stage should be removed and converted to general seating, in my opinion. When the place is busy, it's congested between the bar and the stage and seating is limited. There is a wall-in patio that is separate that is used by dancers and patrons who want to smoke and/or visit away from the loud atmosphere of the main club. It's a very humble place with a few cocktail tables and chairs and concrete floor. There were just a few customers at 9:30, a mixed crowd. About five dancers were working at that time - two white, one black and another who was a light-skinned black or mix. One was thick, but carried herself and her weight well and the others were slimmer. None looked too thin. There was some stage tipping done and I decided to tip each dancer. Stage tipping was rewarded with some attention at the stage. The thick dancer went to the lap dance area several times with customers over the several hours I was there. I was approached by one of the white girls and I bought her a regular drink when she asked. She sat and visited a while. After I'd been there an hour or so, several more dancers started working - two curvy black girls, Nellie and Swirl, and a very short black or Latina (Nikki). I recognized one of the black girls as a dancer who had worked there for a while, but had left over a year ago. I was pleased to see her and that she remembered me. She's very tall and top-heavy :-) , but isn't carrying any extra weight. The other black dancer looked especially nice walking away (but I looked forward to her walking back). I got reacquainted with Nellie, bought her a drink and got two dances from her. The lap dance area is curtained-off and is very dark. Nellie provided high-contact dances. As far as I could tell, Nellie and two other dancers were the only ones to go to the lap dance area between 9:30 and 1:00. Next time I visit, I'd consider trying Swirl and Nikki for lap dances. As the night progressed, some more customers arrived, including some women, and around 11:30-12:00 the party quotient shot up, with dancers and customers getting excited - dancing and carrying on. I bought three drinks for dancers over the night, and to my surprise, didn't have to pay the inflated "dancer drink" price for the privilege of sitting and talking with a dancer on the main floor.

Vixen's has been open for a few months in an old strip club location. Before the Vixen's facelift it had been Club G, a self-described erotic sports bar, that I don't think made it into this web site's database. The property was sold at auction this past summer and the new owners have made significant improvements to the property. I usually see a good group of cars in the lot as I occasionally monitor it informally. At peak times I've seen the lot full of cars. I stopped late on a Monday night, around 10:00. I'm sorry that I can't remember whether I paid a cover charge to the DJ just inside the door to the left. He was doing a decent job that night. There is one stage to the left and a pool table and restroom(s) beyond that. I didn't use the restroom, so I can't comment on it. There are simple chairs and small tables with seating for maybe 20 near the stage. The "L"-shaped bar is on the back wall, opposite the front door. The private dance area is to the back right, curtained-off from the rest of the room and between it and the stage is some bench seating with coffee table. There were about six dancers on duty when I arrived, with a couple in street clothes lingering before heading out the door. Dancers were white, black and latina. The stage dancing was average in enthusiasm and skill - good enough to keep a customer's attention. As I sat in the stage seating, I was approached by an attractive older dancer I think was pretty experienced. I "postponed" her initial ploy and she left me for a while. This club, like most, if not all, Wichita clubs uses the "dancer drink" revenue model that I dislike. I watched some more dancers and eventually moved to the bench seating farther from the stage and found one of the departing dancers, a thick, black gal, to be friendly. For the price of a dancer drink, with some inflation I chose to forgive, she provided some sensual cuddling and a phone number. After she left, the first dancer who approached me came back and lamented that nobody had bought her a $4 shot. I relented and gave her a $10 for one, expecting some change in return. The price became $8 after she got the shot and I got nothing back. She also blew her prospect for future business from me since it was obvious she lied about the price. I didn't buy a private dance, but the area was used some while I was there. It's separated from the rest of the club by curtains and a customer can enjoy his dance w/o view from outside, but there's room for several couples back there. I will go back sometime. It has potential.
