Question about Computer Web Linkage stuff

Book Guy
I write it like I mean it, but mostly they just want my money.

I have a question about certain porn web links. Let me give you a description of what happens. And then I'll give specifics, and I want to know if you can replicate it. 1. I go to a "compilation" website. 2. I pick a link from there. A new window pops up (as desired). But ... 3. My browser (any browser -- IE, Firefox, etc.) responds by jumping first to a link OTHER than the one I thought I was going to. This is set up by the compilation people to get them click-through revenue. But ... 4. I can beat this by simply closing the new window and then clicking the link again. This second time through, it goes to the right place. 5. I enjoy my porn. :) So, here are the specifics. 1. Compilation: [view link]. 2. Click through to ad: pick any one video (upper left, first one!) and click it. Boing, I go to some OTHER compilation site ([view link], [view link], etc.) even though I didn't expect it. 3. Close that. 4. CLick the SAME link again. Do you go to where you wanted to go, this second time 'round? Do you guys get this same result as me (first click, connects to another compilation; second click, connects to what you want) or does it work for you the first time through?

I don't fuck around with strip club sites. All of this flipping around is a good way to pick up a virus.I have over 300 porno's on my hard drive and I got them all from Lime Wire. There are some bogus files that will lead you to a porn site and then run you around in circles. Through time I have been able to recognize them and avoid them.

Shadowcat: If you use Lime Wire you might want to reconsider. P2P file sharing is a sure way to get a virus or other little nasty that will fuck up your computer.

Parodyman: The safest's Way would be be to stay off the computer. The same could be said of strippers. I can't lay off either. My son is a LAN adminstrator for a Fortune 500 company in charge of security. He built my computer and installed the best anti virus programs. He always keeps me informed and always kicks my ass when I fuck up.

Thanks to the dudes who tried it out. Interesting that one of you got the same result, and another didn't, but can replicate them. I'm feeling a bit less worried now -- it's seeming more like something "at the site" about how they have the redirect arranged, rather than "in my computer" about some kind of virus.

This isn't due to a virus or any other kind of malware. Those links never go directly to what you want. They go to [view link]'s (or whoever) which can then do a number of things: count the fact that someone clicked on the link for sure; but also direct you where you want to go, or if it wants to, direct you somewhere else. You can defeat this *sometimes*. Put your mouse over the image. The status bar on your browser will show the link, e.g. [view link]. If you see a link like that, then enter the part of the link starting with the SECOND http://... in your browser address bar and click Go or hit return.

Shadowcat, You have posted before about your son's computer skills. That is why I don't understand his attitude toward P2P file sharing.

Emmett: agreed. Seen that opportunity and taken advantage of it. I'm just glad to know, it's "all them" and has nothing to do with me. Thanks for the info, though.
