Saw this story this morning and, maybe it’s from spending 15+ years on this forum, but my first thought was “P4P gone wrong.” Their ages and that they were in a hotel are enough for me to guess. We’ll see what comes out in the investigation and innocent until proven guilty, but my confidence is 80%+ I’m reading the tea leaves (pun def intended) correctly.
“Police said Sunday that Lance Cpl. Devin Jacob Ballard, a 20-year-old U.S. Marine stationed at Futenma Air Station in Okinawa, was arrested on suspicion of killing 39-year-old Anna Yagi at a hotel in the island's capital city of Naha early Saturday and stealing her wallet and backpack.”

Why the fuck do we have 54,000 US military personnel, at great U.S. taxpayer expense, stationed in Japan? Something’s very wrong in our country. Wake up sheeple.
@Studme53 We have 54,000 troops in Japan because we stopped making shit as a country and instead force the rest of the world to use our Green Printed IOU’s at gunpoint. This allows the USG to keep the money printers humming while we import stuff people actually want from productive nations. If any nation tries to sidestep this massive Ponzi scheme than they get the Gaddafi or Saddam treatment.

@georgmicrodong It's literally what you and @someguyontheinternet said smashed together. We have troops stationed there under the pretense of protecting Japan so they don't have an excuse to build a military, while actually having a loaded gun pointed at the entire pacific theater to make sure they don't fuck with our money train.
We could be a very rich, happy country without being “world police” in the Pacific theatre, Europe or any other far flung part of the world.
