Total Eclipse Of The Heart is the the song that stands out to me as a Bonnie Tyler song. The song promoted a strip club conversation in 2025 that made me pursue a CD "Super Hits" (Columbia) album at $2.00 that doesn't include the RCA Hit "It's a Heartache"! Shame on me for the oversight!!! I prefer Total Eclipse, but "It's a Heartache" is a classic from what is my alleged niche musically!

I only just learned while reading an article about her passing, Total Eclipse of the Heart was written by long-time Meat Loaf collaborator Jim Steinman. Apparently Meat was pretty mad that Steinman gave the song to Tyler instead of him, which probably contributed to their contentious working relationship. Other musicians that performed behind Tyler on the song were several members of the E Street Band and also Rick Derringer.
If you look hard enough you can find pre hoarse Bonnie Tyler videos. Her husky voice was the result of vocal cord surgery and her alleged scream in frustration at the recovery period that d,maged it.
The bizarro strip club conversation had a dancer telling me that Meatloaf sang the Jim Steinman song and me holding firm that it was Bonnie Tyler. Mister Orange covered the history of the song correctly and I did not know that part until 2025.
Dang, I recall hearing "Total Eclipse of the Heart" on my car radio as I was driving away from a strip club. Another raspy voice singer, Kim Carnes, is still around at 80. I recall hearing her song "Bette Davis Eyes" as I was driving towards a club. Interesting how one remembers certain songs.
Way back in college, I used "Holding out for a Hero" for a video project, basically a music video covering the death of Superman.

"Holding Out for a Hero" was my old favorite Lilly's song to strip to, or at least one of them.
OTOH, I had a coworker once who was a wannabe Weird Al Yankovic who turned "Total Eclipse of the Heart" into "Total Eclipse of the Fart".

Bette Davis Eyes got serious overplay at one time, but is not a song that I skip off from today! Kim Carnes won 2 Grammy’s in 1982 for her 1981 hit!
