WV Situation

I read that nudity in a public place like an “adult cabaret” is now illegal in WV. Are strip clubs considered private? Just don’t want to go to one and it get raided.

I did a Grok lookup and this is what I got: "The state legislature has also considered/updated laws related to adult cabarets and indecent exposure (recent bills noted in 2026 sessions) that affect how performances are regulated."

This will be difficult to pass if a local race is tight.

"criminalizes adult cabaret performances on public property or where minors could view them"

It isn't very clear. Even a senator made the point "What defines a go-go dancer?" He then went on to say the bill has such unclear wording that something like the touring Broadway production of Mrs. Doubtfire could be banned because it involves a man crossdressing 😂

Anyway, even though it passed in the Senate by an overwhelming majority, it still has to pass in the House. Not a law yet. I think they'd be shooting themselves in the foot economically because just about the only thing people want to regularly travel to WV for are casinos and strip clubs.

It’s a technical thing. You have to be on stage to be partially nude or full, generally only fully if there’s no alcohol served at the establishment. Private/vip rooms usually have a couple levels. The ones that you’re allowed to get fully nude dances, you better keep your hands away 🙄

Is a stripper allowed to get naked with you in WV if you both have the same last name?

There’s so few strip clubs in wv maybe due to these laws?

This is a new thing, ten or so years ago I traveled extensively through WV. Morgantown, Charleston, Martinsburg, and Huntingdon all had pretty good clubs. Most clubs, fun was to be had if the right girls were there. I had walked right out of clubs too if no one working there had any business being naked in public. I know they put that “in view of a minor” in the legislation but it seems like LEO will use that as an excuse to raid clubs knowing they will kill the business. They don’t need a guilty verdict to get in the newspaper.

And PAWG, having worked in WV for years. They are getting pretty good at shooting themselves in the foot.

So I guess that kills the thought of traveling out to Lust one day

Lust is still open as far as I know. I honestly think some quid pro quo goes on there since they’ve never been shut down at least not for long.

I didn't say it was closed. But it kills the idea of driving an hour to visit a non-nude club
