Stopped by 9n a recent Sunday night. Was told $5 cover. Ok, no problem. Driver’s license scan by door girls phone, not a fan. Need to check your phone at the desk. Or keep it and pay an additional $20 cover charge…. No thanks. Drive back to Philly with my curiosity about strip clubs in central PA unsatisfied. Somehow I think that even if my curiosity was satisfied, I would not have been satisfied, IYKWIM.
Why the up charge on phones

The only reason to scan your id is to provide it to cops or to sue you. Why would anyone agree to let a strip club scan your ID?
There are lots of reasons why some places do this. The liquor board may have specified to ensure they card everyone, the cops might have them do this if there is a high incident rate of calls (so they can see who was there in the event of a shooting etc.). The absent owner might require it to get an accurate count of visitors. Or maybe the manager requires it to keep bad apples from entering cause he knows trouble makers and undesirables are much less likely to submit and they will just go elsewhere.
this is just stupid on many levels to do this buy the club.
I would never let them scan my ID or hold my phone. Certainly wouldn’t pay $20 to be allowed (wtf) to hold my phone.
Couldn’t you just leave your phone in your car? I’d prefer not to, but would consider it if it was a good club.
The no-phone rule is a bit perplexing. On the surface, you could conclude that it is to prevent unauthorized photos. But, they allow phones with a fee (either one-time fee or as part of VIP membership).
So, it seems like merely a money-grab.
To the comment about satisfying your curiosity..I believe you actually achieved that..you learned that Savannah's is not worth a visit. It's a shame, really, as it's a good club aesthetically, and "some" of the girls are decent, but that's offset by some unnecessary and misplaced bouginess.
Lawyers make the decision on whether IDs get scanned, and they don't give a fuck if it hurts the business. That is not their focus.
And it is not just the bad guys who don't like to have their IDs scanned. Strip clubs are SUPPOSED to be a little naughty and subversive, aren't they? Who do you think their clientele is? When they scan your ID, it proves they hate you as much as the Lady's Aid Society does.
I don’t understand the phone fee. Never heard of that. I would better understand, and might actually support banning phones of both customers and dancers, but a fee makes no sense.
I have always been paranoid of an ID scan, and happy that none of the clubs that I frequent scan IDs.
Just leave your phone in your car. The no phone rule here has been around since they first opened, I think. It is party to stop photos and partly to stop OTC arrangements. Keeping your phone has long been one of the perks to paying $$$ on a VIP membership. AFAIK, the individual buy up is a more recent thing. IMO I'd lean to the money gran explanation since they seem to be hurting for revenue.
$300 for basic VIP membership/$600 for platinum VIP which allows phone……. Is central PA such a strip club desert that this is even an option?
Is central PA a strip club desert? Yes, IMO. Also "grab" not "gran" above
Partly to stop photos? What's to stop VIP and one-pay customers from taking photos? They know who everyone is who enters, due to ID scan.
And what's to stop VIP members or one-time pay customers from arranging OTC? Should they ban pens, too, to prevent writing numbers on napkins? Or, banning using memory and brain to memorize a number before leaving club, then entering into phone when meaning, Furthermore, what prevents stripper from sending message to customer, since the dancers are allowed to have phones.
Seems that management is just being overly petty and/or greedy, and didn't really think this through completely, as they aren't really preventing anything if they allow phones into the club at all.
^^They probably don’t need to ban using one’s brain. I’ve never been to this club but it sounds like anyone with a brain would avoid it.
Never been too worried about the ID scan personally... but $20 for them to hold your phone? Keep it in the car...
@Alternative_carry657— he king the phone at the front desk would have been free. Bringing it in was the $20 up charge to the $5 cover

That's crazy 20 dollars wow
