Just when I was really getting to like this format too. Now that they are on the radar very little chance that things continue much longer.

Seventeen arrests though is a big number. When I’ve been to DD I don’t think there was 17 ppl in the whole place counting customers and all staff. Maybe there was a big game in the back room or a secret casino or something?

@rawhide2 this is really concerning, however, I don't think this should have any impact on the San Jose Viet Coffee scene. I'm a regular at the shops here and it's business as usual. The shops I frequent don't have gambling machines or serve alcohol, so I think that helps keep them off the radar.

I like coffee shop music better than strip club music and coffee better than alcohol so if a coffee shop had scantily clad young females who would sit on my lap I think I might like that.

Louisiana had a pretty big Vietnamese and Laotian population - similar climates and swamp-based lifestyles. I wonder if these Vietnamese coffee shops have taken off there? Nothing like that in Florida, that I know of. It's really kind of surprising given the notoriety of Cuban coffee and open attitudes of Cuban girls.

Which has nothing to do with anything. Some of the worst states in the country for strip clubs and AMPs are the most liberal. Like MA, VT, and Washington (state). Meanwhile Florida is a mecca for both.

It is about certain types of extremism, on either side of the political spectrum. Case in point is Virginia, which is bluish with a purple tinge, because it is one of the few things that the feminazis in the north and religious right in the south can agree upon.

The problem with Vietnamese coffee shops is that it's just too much for politicians who pride themselves on family values platforms. They can tolerate strip clubs that are in out of the way places and even AMPs that are discreet. But dressing up adult businesses as coffee shops, in plazas with other businesses that families patronize and/or drive by often, is a bridge too far.
