Anybody understand how Todd Snider died?

This is my second attempt to post this, due to numbered points making the text go dark. Will attempt to delete the previous.

Do any of you understand what happened to the singer/songwriter? I am asking here because it seems news reporters don't even get the basics any more.

In my understanding, these are the events leading up to his demise.

He was admitted to a hospital hours before one of his concerts was to begin, due to a physical assault on him. (The media is now referring to it as an alleged assault.)

After a brief stay in the hospital, the staff told him it was time for him to leave.

Snider argued he was not healthy enough to leave the hospital, to the point he became combative and the police were called.

Snider was arrested, charged, and released on his own recognizance.

Days later, Snider died, apparently from pneumonia and sepsis.

So this leads to my confusion as to why people aren't raising hell over the hospital booting him out. Obviously, he could afford to pay his bill.

Even if he was having a mental episode or being obnoxious, hospitals are forced to deal with that crap all the time. Anybody else wondering about this?

And, yes, I am resorting to looking for facts on a strip club discussion board because I believe that is a more reliable source than most of the internet.

I’m a fan of his. I’d like to know more. Something is way off.

Thank you for that link. It has the kind of details I was looking for. What a sad mess. Many people had the opportunity to help him, but chose not to. Now it's all CYA stuff. I could speculate on why those who knew him well let him drift away, but it's better not to.

“Beer Run” and “Double Wide Blues” are quintessential Todd Snider.

It seems he originally got treated for a head wound that needed 20 or so staples to close. Maybe that made him incoherent. He was also missing his pain meds for spinal stenosis. We now know he had walking pneumonia. Made a few unfortunate choices in his words: Said he didn't need to go to jail, he just needed a place to sleep for the night. And he uttered the line that shuts off cops brains: "I can't breathe." Of course, it was true. But I think about 50% of arrestees try that line nowadays.

The hospital and cops apparently assumed he was a homeless drug addict in withdrawal, and wanted to get rid of him. He was in no head space to advocate for himself. So where was his posse in his moment of crisis?

I think this hospital situation happens a lot more than you realize.
