Getting whipped

It took me till my mid 20s to snap out of it, when I felt it coming on. I had a fav who, I suspect, will never stop telling herself this time it will be different every time she gets dick whipped. Is getting whipped only the problem of a dumb minority? Or do most just learn the hard way about if from a young age? I think maybe some people get sprung easily, but, due to luck or good instincts about people, it never turns into a shitshow for them. Not sure whether or not that counts as whipped.
