And snap benefits cost each taxpayer $36 per person per year to provide. There are contingency funds set aside to fully fund snap in case of a shutdown so those benefits not being paid is 100% Trump's decision. The courts ordered him to pay the benefits and Trump was literally fighting with the courts to let children starve. Trump has also been trying to penalize grocery stores for offering discounts to poor people. What a gigantic pile of shit Trump is. He REALLY doesn't want those Epstein files released.
^^Yet I bet you think the Dems holding the CR hostage for $1.5T to cover the cost of healthcare premiums from rising from the (not)Affordable Care Act is OK?
USDA depleted the $4.65 billion contingency fund to cover 65% of eligible households'' November allotments. $600 million was allocated for state operations and aid to Puerto Rico/American Samoa. Full funding would require over $4 billion more, which the administration refused to source from other programs that would risk school lunches.
Note: Had the Dems passed the CR, this would be all moot.
The Dems are the ones that put low-income families at risk, flight delays/cancellation/slowdowns.
THEN, the Dems had the stones to say they'd support the CR if they got 1 year of ObamaCare Premium Subsidies (kicking the can down the road) knowing they could take this hostage again with the 2026 mid-term elections.
The Dems will NEVER admit that ACA/ObamaCare made healthcare WAY MORE difficult & expensive. IMO, ACA was designed to create so much pain people would demand Free MEDICAID FOR ALL (aka RATIONING. ) Just remember, when you die and are on Medicaid, gov't will take what ever value your estate has to help cover Medicaid costs you incurred.
The Dems created this time bomb on purpose, just like they wanted 12-months of Premium Subsidies to pass the CR so they could pull this shit again.
When 1 out 8 families (46M) need Food Stamps, that's a clear indicator there is a structural program with this welfare. Having people work/volunteering at least 10 hours a week doesn't seem like a big deal. Clinton did "get a job" to help shake people off Welfare, and that was fine but not now?
They could go with Trump's healthcare plan that he lied and said he would release in 2 weeks over and over but never released anything. Trump said he has concepts of a plan. In other words he's a fucking moron and Republicans have no healthcare plan whatsoever. They could work together to try to improve healthcare but the Republicans like always bring no ideas to the table at all.
There is not enough money now to pay for everything with our two trillion dollar yearly deficits so a fight is going on in government over what gets cut first.
I think military spending will eventually end up getting cut before Social Security and Medicare. No one wants grandma and grandpa to suffer. I am old but I try not to worry about things that are not under my control. I try to enjoy life, including visiting my favorite strip clubs.
aahhhh.....welcome back to my world gummy bear! Without puddy, it was getting old. Where's your reach around gang? They usually pile in on stuff like this.
The USA in 2025 is a completely different country and political culture than in 2013. The hatred and division, manifesting in shocking violence, assassinations, and more, was rare exception in 2013. It still had happened, and it was still being fomented by left-wing rhetoric and perpetrated by democrat-registered voters, but not at the rate and not with unrepentant public rhetoric that we have seen the past two years. It is different, and it is intellectually dishonest and morally vacant to claim otherwise.
Furthermore, this shutdown was not about healthcare plans. This was about pandemic-er special programs which democrat had wrote with a sunset clause and democrats had voted for with a sunset clause, that had reached the sunset date three years after the pandemic had ended. And, instead of negotiating for an extension as part of a new spending package, the democrat party tried to hold the country hostage to extort more money for programs that had no reason to exist anymore. Programs they had voted to end. Dredging up some utterance from a politically active celebrity in a bygone era shows the desperation of the left. It's over. You lost.

I love watching the liberals writhe and whine about yet another loss dealt to them by MAGA and the GOP. Cry for me, bitches, your tears are delicious.
