I think what the courts and people like Senator Van Hollen are trying to do is ensure our laws including due process are followed, which is commendable. The guy has no criminal record, had legal status in the US, and the Trump admin itself admitted the deportation was a mistake. There is no reason for them to be fighting the courts on this, but they do because they believe they are above the law.
