Anora - Stripper movie "does" 5 Oscars
mogul1985I have 3 lives: Work, Dog Shows and Strip Clubs
Anyone seen this? Won the most this year: Picture, Actress, Original Screenplay, Film Editing, Director. Never heard of Mikey Madison (stripper actress.)
I haven't watch the Academy Awards in like 30 years. Typically, when a movie gets a lot of awards, especially Picture, I tend to not like them so I avoid.

WINNER: "Anora"
"The Brutalist"
"A Complete Unknown"
"Conclave"
"Dune: Part Two"
"Emilia Pérez"
"I'm Still Here"
"Nickel Boys"
"The Substance"
"Wicked"
It took me 3-4 watches to get through "Dune 2" without falling asleep. Definitely boring as hell compared to the first film. As a fan of body horror, I may watch "The Substance when it is showing on something I already subscribe to. Otherwise, I doubt I will waste any time with any of these films. This song is from a multiple Oscar nominee, including a nom for Best Original Score, so you can see why they have no cred: www.youtube.com
Add in to that the way they failed to control their own ceremony after Will Smith assaulted host Chris Rock and refused to leave, they really don't deserve the airtime anymore. (I would have either awarded the best actor award to the runner-up, or just refused to announce/present the award altogether.)
I really enjoyed Anora. Mikey Madison's portrayal of a stripper is spot-on. She crushed the role.
Anora was boring and annoying. Totally overrated.
The Apprentice shows Trump raping his first wife.
^Biggest d-bag post of the year.
I can’t wait until Añora comes out as a dollar dvd!
The Oscars happened? Thanks for the news flash!
Anora $15 million box office. And they whine why no one goes to the movies. Vote for films people actually saw
^I can say I remember when that was. Films like "Gladiator", "Master and Commander", "Lord of the Rings", and even "8 Mile." It was not all that long ago, but it seems like forever since an awards telecast was relevant for me.
I saw A Complete Unknown, Conclave and Dune 2. Saw them all on different rainy weekends. They all were Ok. I wouldn’t go out of my way to watch any of them again. Very down year for movies.
I wouldn’t watch the Oscars for money. I saw clips on the news. Crowd white Hollywood women whooped like crazy when the winner pompously announced he was the first black man to win for best costumes. Like anyone gives a shit. So disgusting.
They honored the firemen for not putting out any fires apparently.
I never heard of it either.
I was surprised that “A Complete Unknown” and especially Timothee Chalamet did not win. I haven’t watched it but all the buzz around the movie seemed like he was a shoe in to win.
But like many, the Oscar’s haven’t been relevant for me in 30 years. The last one I can remember watching was David Letterman in the 90’s and I’m not even a fan of his.
The Oscars is just a circle jerk amongst themselves.
But they got plenty of money to put it out there.
