Luck is a very strange thing. I used to work with a super-hot young attorney. She never made money singing but did make an album for a record company too Great Husband, great kid. Had it all. They moved across the street from a convenience store a client of ours used to own. She hit megabucks for millions. Four years later she hit Mass. Millions, for millions, both tickets bought at the store. That is good luck.
Our client didn't own it then. He had sold it. He sold it because he came down with the flu. This one day in his life he was so sick his wife said, "You stay in bed, I will take the day off from work and run the store for you." She was stocking the cigarette rack, which the Franchisor would not let them put facing the store, but behind the counter to the rear, where you'd face when getting cigarettes. The guy who sneaked in, robbed her, sexually assaulted her, and murdered her, because she was facing away used it to his advantage. That is bad luck. He never forgave himself for taking the day off and not being there. He later ended his own life. Bad luck.
