Adult entertainment star Kagney Linn Karter was found dead in her Ohio apartment Thursday.
According to the New York Post, Karter, who was 36 years old, was found dead after an apparent suicide last week. Per reports obtained by TMZ, Karter died on Thursday in Parma, Ohio. The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner's Office received her body on that same day, per TMZ
An official with the police department told the outlet that Karter had died by suicide.
In an update, TMZ reported that Karter died from an intraoral shotgun wound, citing documents obtained from Cuyahoga County officials.
Per TMZ, the adult film actress began her career in the mid-2000s and moved from L.A. to Ohio in 2019, where she opened a pole fitness studio.
A GoFundMe was launched by two friends, with an initial goal of raising $8,000 for funeral expenses. The campaign as since raised over $15,000, thanks to help from others. According to the GoFundMe, any leftover funds will be donated to a local animal rescue charity.
"Unfortunately, despite all of her many impressive accomplishments and talents, Kagney struggled with mental health issues as the years passed by. Even in her darkest days, however, she still showed up to the studio, always ready to learn, contribute, better herself in whatever small way she could manage," Karter's friends wrote. “As alone as she undoubtedly felt within the confines of her own head, she continued to make an effort to show up for her friends and the community who cared about her.”
