According to APD, downtown officers responded shortly after 1:30 a.m. to reports of a shooting at the Knockouts Gentleman's Club, which is located at 311 Central Ave. N.W. An adult male with a gunshot wound was found, and medical personnel determined he was already deceased.


While on the scene, we observed the dead body of an adult male with numerous tattoos. The man lying at the main entrance of the strip club. We noticed posted city signs near Knockouts indicated that this area is a school zone, and that federal firearms restrictions apply.


APD says one person of interest is detained for the shooting. It is unclear if they will face federal and state charges for the homicide because it occured in a school zone.


This is the 143rd homicide of 2023 in the Albuquerque area.
