A Game-Changer?

Fat, drunk and stupid is no way to go through life
OSHTEMO TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — A Kalamazoo-area brewery announced on Wednesday it will be offering full health care benefits with no premium deductions from employee paychecks.

Latitude 42 Brewing Company will be providing the perk starting Nov. 1 at both of its locations in Oshtemo Township and Portage.

The free market economy at work without socialist government intervention. This could really change the game in the service / food industry and perhaps other industries as well.

I am getting tired of reduced hours, unexpected closings, closed dining rooms, short staffs, and long waits.

Interesting, hope they succeed. This will hopefully reverse the trend of the last 2 decades or so in Corporate America.

Ironically, the most pro-freedom thing the gubment could do would be to allow an alternative health care system to be established that's modeled on the low-cost (socialist) Cuban health care system. Cuba has a similar life expectancy to the US.

But definitely, props to businesses that get it that it's good business as well as good morals to make sure their employees can live decently.

Right now is the time they can actually get away with this. The company is putting in price increases to offset the raise in the cost of the employees. The customers are going to pay for that health care. We're doing similar things in my industry. Vendors are demanding higher pay. We are passing that cost onto our customers. Right now, inflations is kinda an expectation so we can get away with it.

But expect higher costs on everything going forward. The inflation Genie is out of the bottle.

    Great.

But in 1992 Bill Clinton was elected on a pledge to set up a public health care system which covered every American. This is what we need. Affordable Care Act does not do this.

Money paid into health care recirculates, until it gets into the hands of the rich. Then you do have to raise high income taxes to get it back.

And Warrior15, if you did not have people putting beer into bottles, or working as clerks, accountants, in the tech sector, or as corporate administrators and middle managers, and if these people were not paying money into rent, mortgages, insurances, IRAs and 401Ks, and into other wealth creation vehicles, so it can all enrich the investor class, then it would be you who would have to be doing the kinds of jobs that these people do.

It's an attempt to try to save themselves. They couldn't care less about employees or customers.

Running a restaurant is hard, I applaud them for trying to change it up, I wonder does this mean they’re going to eliminate tipping and raise the prices to create value for the customers as well.
