Those that claim independence vote with Dems so I don't see why this is good. Still Nancy and Chuck calling the shots. Sounds like we would be the new Venezuela after 2 years of this.

One party rule and the vote is fixed.

A good government is one that protects the border, preserves industrial jobs with tariffs, and otherwise stays the eff out of people's lives.

Yes, all the so called “independents” are really Dems, or worse, outright socialist/communists. But George is correct in principal. In our constitutional system, gridlock is a feature, not a bug.

What doctorevil said. Mind, my use of "good" should more accurately be construed as "the best we can do given the current political makeup of the U.S."

I've been an independent my whole life. I voted against open borders, sanctuary cities, socialism, the "green new deal" and the leadership of the Democratic party.

51 Republican Senators saves the United States. There is no such thing as an independent, as evidenced by that Fidel castro cocksucker bernie sanders.

Shadowcat, you are an independent VOTER. Independent POLITICIANS are overwhelmingly liberal. gmd's model wouldn't work because power defaults to the commies. A better balance would be to have the executive office function as originally written by having the runner up serve as the VP. As it is, I prefer having different parties control the different houses. I still hope for some good compromises and bipartisan choices. Call me old-fashioned.
