I’ve often been told by the women in my life that they loved me for my sense of humor.
Although I eventually came to recognize this as a compliment, for a long time I felt like it was really an oblique criticism, like saying, “Well, you’re an odd looking dude who doesn’t know how to fuck worth a damn, and you’re a self-absorbed world class dork but at least you’re funny!”
