CLEVELAND, Ohio — A Mayfield Heights man was shot to death during a carjacking early Monday outside a downtown Cleveland strip club, police said.

Monday’s shooting marks the third violent incident in recent weeks.

Edward Robinson Jr., 39, died after the shooting outside the Alibi Inn strip club on Rockwell Avenue and East 22nd Street, police said. Police are searching for two men involved in the shooting but no arrests have been made in the case.

Robinson left the strip club about 1 a.m., got in his car and stopped to talk to a woman outside the club’s front entrance, police said.

Another car pulled up next to Robinson. Two men inside argued with Robinson in the middle of the street, according to police.

One of the men in the other car got out, walked up to Robinson’s car and opened fire, police said. Robinson suffered several gunshot wounds to the chest.

The shooter got into Robinson’s car and sped away. Robinson was taken to MetroHealth where he was pronounced dead.

Police found Robinson’s car about 4 a.m. on the corner of East 49th Street and Case Court, police reports say. Investigators took the car in as evidence to search for clues in the shooting.

The strip club has been the site of several violent incidents, and in one case two employees were set up to be robbed by a customer, according to police reports.
