A Plano man accused security guards at a Dallas strip club of beating him and a friend and calling them a racial slur after a confrontation with a patron there.
Jalen Bell, who says he is a Navy veteran, wrote in a Facebook post that he went to XTC Cabaret in the Stemmons Corridor over the weekend to celebrate Cinco de Mayo with a friend.
He said he left the club later that night with broken ribs and facial injuries.
A representative for the club could not be reached for comment Wednesday.
While at the club, he "exchanged words" with a man who put a cigarette out in Bell's drink after he accidentally left it in a reserved area.
After the spat, he and his friend decided to leave, he said, but security guards were waiting for them at the exit and "beat us like animals."
"They called me [N-word] as they punched, stomped and grabbed my throat with such force I felt my trachea beginning to snap," Bell wrote in his Facebook post.
Bell suffered cracked ribs and injuries to his eye, jaw and back. He included photos of his injuries in Facebook posts.
"It's unfortunate that here in 2018 after fighting for and serving this country honorably I have to wake up with injuries similar to those of my ancestors who fought tirelessly decades ago," Bell wrote.
It appears lawyer Lee Merritt, who has taken high-profile cases in the past, is representing Bell. Merritt is also representing a young woman who accused singer R. Kelly of luring her into an alleged sex cult and giving her an STD in Dallas.
Merritt did not immediately respond to a request for comment about Bell's case but said in a news release that Bell was treated for his injuries and filed a report with the Dallas Police Department.
On Wednesday, police released a basic summary of that report, saying Bell told officers at the northwest police station that someone had put him in a chokehold about 4 a.m. Sunday.
He got out of the chokehold and was then assaulted by multiple people he didn't know, police said. He sought treatment at a hospital.
No other details were released.
The XTC Cabaret has made the news before. In October, a shooter killed a man and wounded a woman in the club's parking lot. In 2016, a man was shot in the shoulder after two people tried to rob him and another person as they were leaving the club.
The club's Yelp page now has dozens of reviews from people taking Bell's side.
This is an an afterhours spot and seems a bit thug per what I've read in past reviews - strip-club staff are often shady characters, particularly bouncers and many of them are douches but only one side of the story is given and seems kinda unlikely bouncers would beat on someone for no reason
There is a photo of the lawyer in front of the club - and it looks like an upscale club. Maybe it’s a case of small brained bouncers - over reacting to a minor issue - and letting roid rage take over? All that clenching and pumping - can make veins pop in some uncomfortable areas.
^^^Maybe not, one the problems with these bouncers is they are untrained for the mst art, these problems don’t often occur in larger establishments that hire off duty LEOs.
The story sounds like a made-up excuse from someone who caused an incident and got the shit beat out of them. Accidentally piut their cigarette out in a drink in a reserved area? Fucking bullshit on that.

This what happens when we let clubs get away with hiring thugs.

The situation has to be dealt with.

I'm thinking there is a lot more to this story than what Mr. Bell and Mr Merritt are telling.

I saw a guy get pistol whipped once at a strip club for telling a midget he was short. Shit happens.
