@poolyd never gonna happen. The current top brass knows that the only reliable way to choose the next generation of top brass is for the lower level folks to have actual combat experience. For no other reason than that, the military will always be doing something that involves live fire against real or perceived enemies, even if we occasionally have to make it up.
