Two people were shot and one was killed early Sunday morning in a shooting at at topless dance club and the Detroit Police Department seeking help to finding the suspect.
It was 1:20 a.m. on the 95000 block of Michigan Avenue when two victims, who had parked in the parking lot of Club Venus, entered their vehicle. Someone parked in the car next to them, who police describe as a black male wearing a hoodie, exited his vehicle and started shooting into their car. The man fled on foot but later entered his vehicle, a dark four-door sedan, which had three other people inside, and escaped.
The shooting left a 24-year-old black woman dead, with gunshot wounds to her arm, and a 23-year-old black male with injuries to his left hand. Police don’t believe his injuries are life-threatening.
In January, the federal law enforcement raided, and a local judge shuttered Club Venus’ next door neighbor, the Victory Inn Motel, which has become the site of a number of fires in the months since.
