DENVER, Colo. (CBS4) – Police are searching for the gunman who shot and killed someone outside of a Denver strip club.

The deadly shots rang out early Sunday morning behind PT’s Centerfold Show Club near where Hampden Avenue turns into Havana Street.

Police responded to a call of the shooting in the 3400 block of South Galena Street at 3:36 a.m. They discovered a man dead near the sidewalk and covered his body with a tent.

Grief-stricken family members showed up to see where their loved one was gunned down. Officers placed evidence markers where articles of clothing were left on the pavement.

Patrons waited for officers to process their cars that had become part of a crime scene. Others who happened to be in the area were saddened by the sight.

“It’s really unfortunate. It’s really sad,” said Kemi Jenn, who was taking a class at an office building nearby.

Jenn arrived around 7 a.m. and saw investigators working to figure out what lead up to the deadly gunfire.

“It could be anyone. It could be anyone of us. So it’s just an eye-opener. And it just kind of keeps us on alert,” said Jenn. “Just be more aware, and be careful where you hang around.”

Police were not able to say if they recovered a weapon.

As of Sunday afternoon, there was no suspect description, and the victim’s identity had not been released.

A Denver Police spokesperson said that police were working with local businesses to obtain surveillance video that could possibly help them catch the killer.

This just in, Chessmaster has been included as a possible suspect. TUSCL has provided details into his motive, thinking several TUSCL members were in attendance at the club.
