That Taffer Touch

I just posted a review of Power Strip, the Detroit place that used to have one of the best club names in the business, Chix on Dix, and was "rescued" by Jon Taffer. I waited to watch the show until after I'd written the review. Tonight I watched the show.

Observation 1: I was the only customer there, at 12:30 on a Saturday night. So I wonder how that rescue is coming along. I actually think this has more to do with the obscure location than anything else, although it didn't help that there were only two dancers.

Observation 2: On the show, Taffer admonishes a customer for touching a dancer, which is illegal. They never show or talk about the LD booths. Did Taffer not understand what goes on in these clubs? I think it's more likely that "reality TV" does not -- gasp -- accurately reflect reality.

Other: None of the people I saw in the club were on the show. No sign of the owner. Taffer is a clean freak, and yes the place was clean, the bartender was busy cleaning when she wasn't pouring. Another Taffer touch is he always puts in hundreds of TVs. He did not do that, it's got plenty of TVs, but no more than other strip clubs.

I visited Chix on Dix long before it was rescued, and it was a shit hole. I would not go back even if it's cleaner now.

The show is called “Bar Rescue” not “Strip Club Rescue” - most of us on here that are true SCers could probably do a better job at making a SC popular than this Taffer dude.

That show is pure bullshit like most "reality" tv.

I imagine Taffer could "rescue" a SC in a place like Las Vegas -- where ridiculously large amounts of the strictly legal money flows like water. In a place like the Big D, fuggetaboutit. No fuckin chance.

Unless he can fill the place w/ a whole bunch of quality pussy instead of lots of TVs; then it'll remain a SC wasteland.

I always thought "Second Base" from Bar Rescue was a strip club without the show admitting it. "Strip Club rescue" would be a fun show to watch.
