A recent trend in retail stores this holiday season is retailers trying out new ways to engage shoppers. One is called "tactile shopping".
The goal is offer potential customers the opportunity to "touch, feel, and experience" the product. Customers that "linger" spend more.
Hell, strip clubs invented this concept years ago.

Strip clubs have made it a total sensory experience because we also get to smell and taste the product. Where else do we get to do that -- except maybe the sampler tables at the grocery store?
