It would have been funnier if they HAD found an American carrier. Lots more fire power and a lot more training and aggression. Paki navy is a show navy with foreign ships. I am surprised they prevailed.

What makes this more comical is that probably no USN aircraft carrier has ever docked in Karachi. That city certainly isn't high on liberty port wish list. It is highly doubtful that the nearest country with aircraft carriers (India- with 2 in service, and one launched, but not serviceable) has ever been in Karachi either.

Just goes to show you that other than in their own countries most of the time when a terrorist succeeds it's just because of dumb luck. In general these guys are not the cream of the crop. It's hard to find a smart person who wants to do something that ends up in their own death. The true religious nuts that are smart are the dangerous ones. Most of the smart ones are really just power hungry thugs using a religion for their own personal gain.

I wonder how they logically thought they could take over a US carrier with 5,000 people on board?

They were probably more interested in just doing as much damage as possible. Or kidnapping the crew as hostages.
