PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- An undercover investigation has resulted in the arrest of two women on prostitution charges for allegedly soliciting two Providence police detectives at the Satin Doll, a strip club in the downtown arts district.

Jarolin Abad-Ruiz, 24, of 13 Rodney French Blvd., New Bedford, Mass., and Marie Parente, 33, of 120 S. East Main St., Douglas, Mass., were each charged with single counts of loitering for indecent purposes -- prostitution.

Last Friday afternoon, police officers assigned to the Narcotics and Organized Crime Bureau stopped by the strip club at 35 Aborn St., to investigate whether prostitution was taking place inside.

Detectives David Schiavulli and Patrick Potter walked inside the club wearing plain clothes. Schiavulli reported that a woman calling herself "Carmel," later identified as Abad-Ruiz, approached him and provided him with a private dance. During the dance, the detective reported, she offered to take him to a private booth and perform several sex acts on him for $150.

Schiavulli turned down the offer.

Around the same time, another woman, who called herself "April," and later identified as Parente, approached Potter and offered to perform a lap dance for $25, the police said. They retreated to a booth in the back of the club and "during the dance asked Detective Potter if he wanted more.''

She offered to have sex with him, the police said.

Potter told Parente that he "would think about it." He returned to main part of the club.

A few minutes later, detectives arrived and arrested both women.

Parente was arraigned in District Court, Providence, and released on her own recognizance, while Abad-Ruiz was charged and ordered to return to court at a later date.

This is very disconcerting. If the PPD decides to start vigorously enforcing the prostitution laws in its SCs, it could spell the end of an era for fun strip clubs in that part of the northeast.

How soon does before the typical "Providence hand shake" evaporates from the greeting process at all the clubs in the city?

Cops are lucky I won't be on that jury. These cops are taking taxpayer money to make the world safe from poontang? And they don't think they're leaches? If one of them testified his ass was in his pants, I wouldn't even believe him about that.
