Our younger posters may not be aware of her, but she was an institution.
As a White House correspondent she covered every president from Eisenhower to Obama.
And you know she was a damn good journalist. With a face like hers she wasn't fucking too many guys for intel.

Moto, you always have insightful posts. Keep it up, brother.
I remember seeing her on the news. I had to google her not remembering her name. I didn't realize she had the same birthday as Obama.
She grew up in Detroit and graduated from Wayne State University.

SuperDude,
I noticed that in her obit. That was a surprise. I incorrectly assumed she was an East Coast Seven Sisters alum.
She went into the tank for the Palistinian cause late in life and fairly bristled with anti-semitism. She finally lost her front row seat at White House press conferences after spouting off once too often that the Israelis should "Get the hell out of Palistine!" Good riddance.
She was always liberal leaning but incisive with her questions. In later life she went a little nuts and made a fool of herself several times before she retired.
Helen Thomas was an institution as Moto said but she also belonged in an institution! She was a nut case.
