RICHLAND COUNTY, S — C[Columbia] Club Crush, a strip club on River Drive, was raided Wednesday night by police, who seized cash, gambling machines, marijuana and liquor.
Police also arrested three people in connection with the raid and cited the club for selling alcohol without a license and operating without a business license, according to a press release from the Richland County Sheriff's Department.
The raid came after the sheriff's department reported shootings at the club within a week. But those shootings were not the department's first encounter with problems at Club Crush.
Deputies have been called to 142 incidents at the club since January 2010, the release said. The club has been associated with more than 40 aggravated assaults and more than 15 liquor and drug violations.
The sheriff's department has met repeatedly with the club's owners and management to discuss the problems, the department said. The community surrounding the club also has voiced complaints about the problems associated with it.
Earlier this week, 5th Circuit Solicitor Dan Johnson responded to written complaints about Club Crush from residents in the Earlewood neighborhood.
Johnson and Lott have pledged to work to close the club's doors.
The S.C. State Law Enforcement Division also participated in the raid, the sheriff's press release said.

“… selling alcohol without a license and operating without a business license …â€
These owners had balls – especially with the history the club already had (“… Deputies have been called to 142 incidents at the club since January 2010 …â€).
