Detroit strip club manager shot and killed

Two women wounded in shooting early New Year's Day morning

Gunfire erupted at a strip club on Detroit's east side just after the new year arrived.

Police said a fight broke out inside Starvin' Marvin's club on Conant Ave. shortly before 2 a.m.

A club manager tried to intervene and was shot.

the 39-year-old died from his wounds. His name was not released.'

Two women in the club were wounded. They were treated at a hospital and released.

the gunman escaped and police continue to search for him.

We can't even get two days into the year? Ridiculous.

Starvin' Marvin's is a small chain around Detroit. 3 or 4 clubs. I know this was notthe first shooting at one of the clubs. Maybe not this location though.

I remember seeing a chain of 24-hour gas station/convenience stores in Florida named Starvin' Marvin when I was a kid. I grew up in a small town in Indiana and convenience stores like 7-11 were virtually unheard of in my area until the 80's. I think Starvin' Marvin was bought out by Speedway.

I wouldn't go to a Detroit club at 2 am. But I've left Lansing (25th most unsafe city in the country) clubs at closing. It's all about knowing the club, the customers, the surroundings.
