I seriously doubt she's a lesbian if she's banning strip clubs.
Alos this: crossculturalconnections.org
"• A study of exotic dancers found that 100% had been physically assaulted in the clubs where they were employed, with a prevalence ranging from 3-15 times over the course of their involvement in exotic dancing. Violence included physical assault, attempted vaginal penetration, attempted rape, and rape (Holsopple, 1999). • In another study, 51.2% of women working as exotic dancers were threatened with a weapon (Raphael & Shapiro, 2004)"
100%??? You have to be fucking certain to say 100%! I mean I know you guys are assaulting the dancers but i wouldn't think every dancer has been assaulted...
Ignore that last post. I'm questioning the bias of the 'research'...
OK 18 dancers. 18! That's no fucking way to do a survey, Jesus Christ!!
(it's OK I said Jesus Christ, he was friends with a hooker...)
LOL " Men pitched a live guinea pig and a dead squirrel at two women in the survey. "
Seriously though it's taken more than 18 dancers for me to find a good one in some clubs. I'll admit all that shit is true, but the statistics are off by picking such a small sample.

The scene of Gypsy Rose Lee is from the movie Stage Door Canteen. It's pretty much a G rated film screaming "HOORAY AMERICA !!" made during World War 2.
The Windmill Theater mentioned in the article has a truly excellent (modern) movie made about it. Mrs. Henderson Presents has top notch acting, directing, and writing.
For a look inside a real burlesque hall, see Lady of Burlesque starring the very beautiful Barbara Stanwyck google.com
