City police continued Monday to investigate the shooting deaths of a police officer and a civilian near a downtown nightclub...the officer fatally shot is identified as William H. Torbitt, 33...Torbitt first tried to break up a dispute among several women, after which a number of men started attacking Torbitt.

A source told Miller that Torbitt pulled his gun and started firing to fend off the attack. When other officers saw Torbitt firing, they opened fire without realizing he was a police officer and thinking they were stopping an unknown gunman.

Gun paranoia whipped up by the idiots. Expect more after this AZ thing.

I think this happened at a nightclub a few miles away from the Block; I don't think it was at a SC.

This has nothing to do with "gun paranoia"...the cops just shot at the wrong people.
