Movie Review: Follow The Prophet

The movie opens with a thirtiesh man going to his Mormon bishop and telling him that he committed fraud, and since the bishop has great sway with the D.A., if he could make the charges go away. The bishop then asks "Your daughter Avery is marrying age, isn't she?"

"Yes", he agrees, "she just turned 15 today."

So, you see where this is going, but wait, in order to prepare her for marriage, daddy has to break her in first, and Avery doesn't want to. After making sure that she recorded the entire thing on her new camcorder, she runs away from home, and accidentally, and fortunately, into the arms of a Special Forces Colonel. Once he sees the vid, the Colonel swears vengeance, but wait.....

It turns out that in Utah, the Mormons control everything, even the feds. Not so easy. Will the Colonel rescue Avery, and her 11 year old sister (chosen as a replacement) ? Watch and see.

Based on a true story of a polygamous cult controlled by an almost brilliant self declared prophet, the movie gives a fantasized version of events, but doesn't hold back on how women and girls are controlled, almost in an Afghan way. The movie never drags and the script is well written.
Once you get past the cringe factor, it's easy to get immersed in the story. Definitely worth watching.
