EDINBURG - Two people face charges after an undercover investigation and raid at the Jaguars strip club.

Sgt. Joe Cazasos tells CHANNEL 5 NEWS agents from the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission went into the new Jaguars on West University to check out a complaint the club was selling liquor without a permit.

As a fully nude establishment, Jaguars cannot apply for a liquor license.

On Saturday night, undercover agents with the TABC went inside. A male worker was arrested for selling liquor without a permit. and a dancer was also arrested for prostitution after soliciting one of the agents.

Several months ago CHANNEL 5 NEWS reported on the city of Edinburg's effort to stop the new club from opening. The building ownership stayed the same and leaders were forced to grandfather in the club.

I was surprised to see that this is a Texas club.

    Why go to a strip club in The Valley in the first place? Right across the border, you can get whatever you want for cheap.

    Edinburg, a city of 48,000 is in the southern tip of Texas, not far from the Mexican border. Based on the two arrests (and only two), I'd say that the cops went there on a fishing expedition. It's an election year, but the primaries were over in March. Some incumbent must be trying to hold onto his/her job.
