Knoxville man accused of employing 400 prostitutes for call girl service

July 17, 2010 KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) â€” A Knoxville man is accused of running a call girl service in Knox and surrounding counties that employed 400 prostitutes.

The Knoxville News Sentinel reports 36-year-old Selvin Salvador Perdomo was arrested this week after a year of surveillance by an FBI task force.

The FBI claims Perdomo almost exclusively employed female illegal immigrants. He is charged under the Mann Act, which makes it a crime to transport people across state lines or U.S. borders for prostitution.

Perdomo's attorney, Tracy Jackson Smith, didn't return a call to the News Sentinel. Perdomo waived a Friday detention hearing and remained jailed in Blount County.

Strange in that I was just looking at the Knoxville clubs for a possible road trip. The Mouse Ear came up #1, but sounds like a place to tip at as there's little contact, etc. So where are all the U. of T. coeds making their part-time money??? Oh, wait, Sam just posted it at the start of this thread. [Kind of like DC -- so few strip clubs and those that are in operation are poor return for dollar spent. Open the Yellow Pages in DC and find LOADS of escort ads...]

bhunter, I don't doubt there are plenty of people anywhere in the USA who need the cash, I've been through Knoxville recently. It's a nice city, but there's enough unemployment there, that I'm sure the cash he promises the women persuades them to work for him
