Thought I'd write an article just on this subject as it has been partly covered by myself and others.
Airport to city centre I'd advise NOT to get a taxi from the airport to the city centre, although the airport is quite close the traffic can be horrendous and looking at the taxi meter will become increasingly tense. The best option is to get a train, the train station is below ground level and can be accessed from various places within the main terminal building. You will enter a concourse where different retail units are situated as well as the main ticket office. Don't go to the ticket office, instead use any of the green self serve ticket machines that have touchscreens where language options are available. It's as easy as falling off a log to select the correct journey, I always select a single ticket as returns can be complex. All machines have credit card readers. I always use my CHASE debit card as there are no currency transaction fees. The trains to the city nearly always leave from Platform 1. Don't use the blue machines, they are for inter city trains I think.
The journey into the city takes around half an hour, with about eight or so stops along the way.
When you get off the train just follow the crown and the signs, just like at the airport the train arrives at sub-ground level platforms. These are the S-BAHN platforms. When you get up to ground level you will see a traditional stations, all these platforms are mostly for inter city and cross European travel. Trains back to the airport can be taken here but you have to be VERY careful to get on the right one. When you return you need to get a S-BAHN train back, they usually go from Platform 101/102 on the levels, there are electronic timetables everywhere to help you, they run every 15/20 mins.
The single journey cost around 9 Euro if memory serves me right.
Frankfurt area clubs There are five to choose from. Mainhatten and Palace are within the city limits. Both are about 2-3 miles from the city centre, your best bet for both is an Uber or a Taxi of which there are plenty outside the train station. It will probably be around 15 Euro each way. Palace used to be a great club pre-covid but it's not a patch on how it was.
The other three are Oase, Sharks and World.
Oase is to the North West of the city and reachable by train from Frankfurt, you need to get an S5 train, they run every 20 minutes or so. tickets are available from the same type of green ticket machines, you'll find them at various places but mostly near the end of the platforms at the ground level concourse. The times can be found on the electronic departure boards by the stairs that lead down. To go to Oase you need to get a train to Friedrichsdorf, its about 25 minutes away, again get a single ticket, about 12 Euro ish. There are machines at Friedrichsdorf. There are usually a few taxis waiting for customers, these are to the right as you live the small station. Just say 'OASE' and they know. About 15 Euro each way. He will follow you in to get a commission payment from the club. Taxis usually are outside when you return or they will call one for you. Frequent trains until about 00.30 hrs and then hourly
Sharks is in Darmstadt, which is a little further away and to the south of Frankfurt. I think this is the S6 train if I remember. Same platform process etc as Oase. When you get to Darmstadt the taxis are a bit harder to find, they are to the side of the main building, the signage isn't great. Same taxi process and cost as Oase, don't try and walk - you WILL get lost and regret it - so I am told. About 14 Euro each way. Be sure to get a return back by about 12.30 am.
World is further north than Friedrichsdorf, the town to get a train to is Giessen. I don't know much about the trains etc. but it will be on the S-Bahn network. Every time I went to World I had a rental car for my entire time in Germany. I've not been to World in along time.
Whatever train you take be sure to buy a ticket, I rarely take a journey where my ticket isn't checked. I think it's a 80 Euro fine if you don't have a ticket.
bahn.de is very useful and has English options for info.
I hope this helps.
