After an evening of booze and bullshit with old oil patch cronies I finished off my night at this club, my first visit in well over 25 years. The old French Maid was really rocking as I entered, much to my surprise.

The French Maid is a dual purpose club - the show room and an adjacent sports/pool/games room for those who don't want the distractions of naked hotties with their beer. We here, of course, are interested only in the activities in the show room.

The French Maid is in the heart of downtown Calgary so parking during daytime is problematic and very expensive. After 6:00 P.M. free street parking is readily available. No valet. No cover charge during the day, $8 on the Saturday night of my visit. My beers were $7.25 (sounds expensive but isn't for downtown Calgary bars).

The show room has a large main stage, auxiliary stages in the corners of the room, small bar, booths

and tables, and a private dance area in the back of the room. The private dance area is a recent addition to the club - two or three months ago. Private dances are $30/5 min. Fees for these are paid to an attendant as you enter the area before the dance starts. A "strict" one-way contact policy is said to apply. As is always the case in situations like this YMMV. The private dance cubicles are very comfortable - roomy, adequately lit, comfortable chairs or couches, good curtained privacy, no patrolling stooge. Some cublicles even have poles and stools for the dancer to use - something I have never seen elsewhere.
