Diamond Jack’s is located in an industrial park less than a mile from the runways of Sky Harbor International Airport. There is no neighborhood near the club, and the club parking lot is fenced and monitored by a guard. The street it’s on terminates at the airport, making DJs hard to find without trip navigation or a cabbie.
Like all Phoenix area clubs, DJ’s is no smoking. It’s a pretty big club with a high ceiling and the same kind of wheelchairs found at the Hi-Liter. The most recent remodel has one big stage in the middle of the room, with tables all around, including by the door. No longer do you have the feeling that you’re alone in a warehouse like previous arrangements.
Here’s the problem: You really are alone. Afternoons and early weekday evenings, there seems to be no more than two customers at a time. Dancers say it picks up around 11, but that’s too late for me. DJ’s doesn’t advertise in all the usual places, so word of mouth is needed to provide customers.
