Calgary strip clubs are generally panned for their rules – for good reason – so I thought I would throw my two cents in and update a club that hasn’t been reviewed in about six months. I’m here to tell you that the winds of change are starting to blow – albeit softly – in my fair city. The Big Easy (and probably sister clubs The French Maid and the Speakeasy) now features private dance rooms. I know… about bloody time!

Now, before you grab your coat and head for the door, many antiquated Calgary rules are still in effect. It’s $30 for a five minute dance ($50 for a couple or two girls) and the money is paid to the bartender up front. You cannot bring your drink into the private room. Once inside, the girl will turn the lights on when it’s show time. When the lights go out, you’re done. There is NO CONTACT AT ALL, but she will get pretty close. The girl I was with didn’t believe there were cameras in the private rooms, but she wasn’t sure. She also said that the bartenders occasionally poke their heads in to check on things. This made things a little awkward for both the girl (who had worked the business in more progressive Ontario in the past) and I. We laughed and got past it and it was nice, but I was still left wanting a bit more (and I think, so was she).

Anyway, now you know about that. It might seem totally lame compared to other provinces (and it is), but it’s a hell of a lot better than we have ever had before (I’m from Calgary originally). She admitted this is very new and my hope is that things will slowly get more and more lax in the future. I’ll check back in awhile.
