I've been to The Body Shop before, though it's been a few years. This has always been my favorite San Diego club because of its laid back, low pressure feel and (in my opinion) beautiful dancers, and that much is still true. The dancers here don't hassle you constantly about private dances, though after I'd enjoyed the stage show for twenty minutes or so a few did make the offer. None of the dancers appear to be silicone "enhanced," a few have minor piercings, and one dancer who came on shift as I was leaving appeared very goth, with short spikey hair and tattoos. Most of the dancers are young and slim, in high heels and various sexy outfits, which they gradually remove over the course of two songs, top first, then bottoms. Out of half a dozen dancers when I was there (in the 5:00 hour), about half danced with the kind of weary, vacant expression on their faces that makes me enjoy their beautiful bodies but not care to get to know them further. One was an exception to all of this: fuller figured, a little older, a talented dancer who strode onstage to the strains of "sunglasses at night" wearing, you guessed it, sunglasses and a kick-ass mischievous grin on her face and a silky teddy and panties on her body. She promptly doffed both the high heels and panties, dancing bottomless and barefoot. Major turn-on on all counts for me personally, and I couldn't wait to get a private dance from her. She didn't offer, however, when she came by to collect my tips, so as I waited for her to come by again, I accepted offers from two other women in turn. The private dances are in little rooms off to the side, without much of a door but with couches out of view of the main room and thus some pretty good privacy. The bouncer would typically come by and poke his head in toward the beginning of the song, but you could see his shadow approaching and look virtuous. Trouble was, there wasn't much to look virtuous about. Dances are $20 per song, and there's lots of contact, but entirely clothed. All of the dancers let my hands roam pretty freely, though I didn't try touching any of the more "private" areas, and they responded in kind. The first dancer, at one point, smashed her rear against my face so hard it twisted my nose sideways; I suppose she must have thought that would be erotic, though it wasn't, it was just uncomfortable. The second dancer ground and bounced on my groin so vigorously that it felt like she was riding one of those mechanical steers--and not in a good way. I finally got a dance from the dancer I wanted, and she was very friendly, told me she'd been working there for six years and enjoyed it, especially with her "regulars," and gave me a very sexy dance, more enjoyable than the other two but no less conservative. I bought three in a row hoping she'd get fresh--even a flash of breast or pussy would have been nice--but no luck; in this sense, the place is a lot less fun than it was the last time I was here. All in all, it was a nice place to relax and watch some beautiful women get naked, but little more than that. I may go back, next time I'm in San Diego, or I may just decide to go see a movie and save my 20s for a trip someplace more liberal.
