I visited Louie's Rogue a few years back and found it to be a dive. But, the construction of the nearby convention center has brought in more people and more upscale clientele. As a result, Louie's Rogue is....still a dive. Yeah, they've replaced the torn seat cushions and added a bouncer/security, but it's still basically the same place.
Most of the dancers are African-American, ranging from 4 to the occasional 7 on the appearance scale. They are polite and not very pushy, but not very friendly either--unless you are a regular or part of a large group of guys who are willing to pay their drink tab for the duration of the evening.
The crowd is a mix of neighborhood guys and out-of-towners wearing suits and ties. The music is ultra-loud, even by the standards of most clubs. I felt a bit like I was an extra in a raunchy hip-hop video.
