This is the Pure Platinum by...
This is the Pure Platinum by the airport in San Diego. Not quite as cool as the one near Kearny Mesa, but still a cool place. It has gotten a lot of lousy reviews, but I'm in clubs all over the country and call 'em like I see 'em. I was there right around noon. Not intentionally, but I was still recovering from the night before so this is the strip club connoisseur version of an eye opener. Walked in and saw one other customer. At the bar. The main stage is out in the middle of the floor, so the dancer up there was basically dancing for herself. As I've said many times in other reviews, one of the signs of a good club is the stage is still going when the place is essentially empty. They have a lunch buffet that get's ordered in, which was both good and timely since I'd started drinking without bothering to eat anything. Since I'm a fan of clubs with alcohol, this is my second choice in SD behind the other Pure Platinum.
It was day shift, so it's hard to know if the girls are comparable, but from who I saw I'd give PP Kearny Mesa and Cheetahs the nod there. Cheetahs has the nicest looking girls in town, but it's like night of the living dead trying to interact with them to stave off boredom. Maybe the regulars have better luck, but that's a different club so back to the point. The girls I saw here were still cute, so don't get me wrong there. They get a boost for being cool, too. The hottest was little Asian spinner who could barely speak a lick of English so that didn't get far, and a curvier redhead who would have gotten a second look if I hadn't run into Amy Valor up the street shortly thereafter. The location is a little awkward (unless you need a quick hit on a layover at SD airport) but not hard to find. It's literally one of the first things you'll see if you're renting a car from the airport locations, on a corner directly across from SAN.
The stage is pit style, where you sit along a railing surrounding a sunken stage. I'm guessing the show was not supposed to be nude since there wasn't a trench, but I seem to remember seeing more than a top come off at both locations. We'll just say the shows aren't exceptional but are enough to keep a guy interested. Since I did sit up at the stage and tipped the girls, I got some pretty good interaction and in some case exactly what I asked for. I'm not really a day shift guy, but depending on the club there are some good points. On my way out I chatted up the manager a bit and literally got a handful of passes. I'm thinking about another trip out this Summer and will put them to good use. You hear about how terrible the clubs are in San Diego and yes that's mostly true, but between the Pure Platinums and Cheetahs loosening back up a bit the town is making a bit of a comeback on the club front.
