I'm in Miami on business and...

I'm in Miami on business and went to Tootsies last night (Wednesday) due to its ratings and reputation. It was not my type of club, but I driven an hour out of my way to see the place so I decided to make the best of it. I almost left early, but was glad I didn't. The place is huge with a lot of dancers, which sounds like a good thing. The problem was that once a girl left the stage you might not ever see her again. I learned that if you want a private dance you need to go to the tip rail and ask the girl before she gets off stage. It's just too big and impersonal for my taste - definitely not the kind of place where girls drop by to sit and talk. After three hours in the club, I was about to give up and head back to my hotel when I finally found a girl worth spending time with. But everyone should go at least once just to take it all in.

Details of the club and my experience for those who have not been:

Layout: There is a large main stage in the middle of the cavernous club. A tip rail runs around the main stage with about a 1 yard gap. After the girls finish their nude stage dance, they come down to the tip rail (still nude) for some close up action. A buck will buy you a great little show. There are typically two girls in the tip area and one on stage, so you can always see three dancers at a time. Definitely good for when you are not into the girl on stage, which was way too often in my opinion. There is an upstairs VIP lounge with a separate stage and more comfortable seating. The hottest girls spend most of their time up there figuring on getting more action. The cost is $20 after 7pm, free before 7. I had planned to arrive by 7, but the traffic was bad and I missed my window. I heard the drinks were $2 more apiece as well. So I decided to stay downstairs.
